Enlightened
My soul is a cavity made of glass Into which nary a soul can pass They might have steel pipe, or a bat Deep within my fear is that They'll slash the columns and the pillars Of my soul they will be killers And smash the delicate sculptures all Watch the shattering glass shapes fall So nary a soul into this can pass My fragile soul composed of glass
Cautiously I'll let another inside To see the spectacle that I hide Inside too long my fear is that They'll swing at me with that big bat I push them right back out and then When another enters I don't know when I play this game for oh, so long But to be alone I know is wrong
So you my friend, your light so warm Could come inside without alarm I even dared to show you the way Sincerely hoped that you would stay But...you did break a thing or two You tried to mend it with Elmer's glue Though I must make my own repair I could see you really do care
To hurt me was not your intent Dispite it all you were still my friend You wiped the mist before my eyes And helped my soul to realize Yes, to be hurt is really sad But the human race is not so bad How many others have I'VE seen through Maybe broke some of their glass, too
Our souls are all caves composed of glass Into which nary a soul can pass But the warmth one brings when inside yours Don't you want to open those doors
And live

I love the way you compared one's soul to glass. For it's true. It's a fragile thing and I can relate to this immensely.
