Ha!!! I finished it!! Yay! Just finished reading Stephanie Meyer's "The Host". For those of you who have lived in a cave for the last few years, Stephanie Meyer is well known for her vampire series (Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn). I liked the vampires, but am still a die-hard Sci-Fi fan. I did not expect this book to hold my interest like it did. But it did, she can really write Science Fiction. I was so impressed. And I know I'll ruffle some feathers here - I thought it was better than the vampire stories.
Without telling too much of the plot, a silvery snake-like alien race has come to earth and has started taking over human beings making them hosts. When I first heard of the plot line, I thought, here we go again with the snake-creatures taking over humans. I mean how many other tales are like this....Stargate, episodes of Star Trek, etc. etc. But I thought her take on the idea was amazing. Won't give much of the story here - it was fun to read without knowing much about it. It would be interesting to see what "Twilight" fans think of this work.
